Notice on the Launch of Online Application and Appointment for Chinese Visa

To provide visa applicants with standard and quality services, in accordance with the unified deployment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese Embassy in Malawi initiated the online visa application and appointment system from 10 May, 2021. The specific arrangements are as follows:

1.As of 10 May, all visa applicants (excluding Hong Kong and Macao visa applicants) are required to log on https://cova.mfa.gov.cn and fill in the visa application form online. After completing the form online, you may enter the visa appointment interface by clicking the button of "Start to book appointment", or afterwards log on https://avas.mfa.gov.cn, to make an appointment for visa application.

2.Applicants are required to submit passports and other required documents to the Chinese Embassy with the printed complete application form and signed Confirmation of Online Visa Application as per scheduled appointment. The diplomatic and official passport holders may directly submit the above-mentioned documents to the Embassy without appointment.

3.To ensure the smooth transition to the online application and appointment, from 10 May to 9 June, the applicants may still submit the old version paper application forms without online appointment. As of 10 June, 2021, the Chinese Embassy in Malawi will no longer accept old version paper application forms and will strictly implement the online application and appointment.

4. The Embassy would like to remind during the COVID-19 period, the Embassy only accepts visa applications for necessary economic, trade, sci-tech activities (the Invitation Letter issued by the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office or the competent commercial department is required), and urgent humanitarian needs (the critical illness notice or death certificate of immediate family member is required).
