Notification on Further Adjusting and Optimizing Visa Application Procedures for Foreigners to China

In order to promote the work resumption between China and Malawi in an orderly manner, the Chinese Embassy in Malawi will further adjust and optimize the application procedures for visas to China from June 30, 2022 as follows:

1. Those who go to China for work resumption, including long term work and short-term visit in various fields such as economy and trade, education, technology, sports and culture, can apply for a visa (Type M &F) with the invitation letter, note or official letter issued by the relevant units according to the visa application requirement before the COVID-19 pandemic.

2. Those who go to China for work resumption can apply for a work visa (Type Z) with the work permit notice. Foreign family members of the above-mentioned persons (including foreigners who have worked in China) can apply for visas to visit or live with relatives (Type S) with the family relationship certificate and other documents. The family members includes spouses, parents, children under the age of 18, and parents of spouses.

3. Besides current humanitarian reasons such as attending funerals or visiting relatives with serious illness, foreign family members of Chinese citizens and foreigners with Chinese permanent residence permit can apply for family visit or reunion visas (Type Q) with the family relationship certificate and other documents. The family members includes spouses, parents, parents-in-law, children, spouses of children, siblings, grandparents and grandchildren.

4. All the visa applicants should in principle be vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine approved by China or the World Health Organization for emergency use or marketing before entering China.

5. All the visa applicants are required to fill in the visa application form in China Online Visa Applicationsystem  (https://cova.mfa.gov.cn), and make an appointment in the Appointment for Visa Application Submissionsystem (https://avas.mfa.gov.cn).  

6. Applicants need to download and print application form and sign the Confirmation of Online Visa Applicationpage, then submit passports and other required documents to the Chinese Embassy with the printed complete application form andthe signed online confirmation page as per scheduled appointment. The diplomatic and official passport holders may directly submit the above-mentioned documents to the Embassy without appointment.
