Ambassador Long Zhou Presented Letters of Credence

On 11 August 2022, H.E. Mr. Long Zhou, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Malawi presented his letters of Credence to H.E. Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi.

Ambassador Long conveyed the cordial greetings of H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China to President Chakwera, and the best wishes of the Chinese government and people to the government and people of Malawi. The Ambassador recalled the steady and sound development of the bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries 15 years ago, with the practical cooperation steadily advanced and friendship between our two peoples gradually deepened. China appreciates Malawi’s adherence to the one-China principle, and is willing to work with Malawi to enhance mutual trust and friendship. China is willing to undertake cooperative projects with Malawi under the framework of jointly building the Belt and Road and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, aligning with the “Malawi Vision 2063”, so as to bring more benefits to our two countries and two peoples. 

President Chakwera kindly asked Ambassador Long to convey his cordial greetings and respect to President Xi Jinping, and extended warm welcome to Ambassador Long. President Chakwera spoke highly of China’s support to economic and social development of Malawi since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Regarding China as one of its most important development partners, his government is willing to make joint efforts with China to promote the continuous development of Malawi-China relations. He reiterated Malawi Government's adherence to the one-China principle.

Before submitting the letters of Credence, Ambassador Long inspected the guard of honor.

Ambassador Long Zhou arrived in Malawi on 31 July 2022 and submitted copies of his letters of Credence to Hon. Nancy Tembo, M.P., Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malawi on 10 August.
