A GUIDE TO WORKING AND LIVING IN CHINA FOR BUSINESS EXPATRIATES (2025 EDITION)

2025-09-11

To facilitate the work and daily life of business expatriates in China, the Ministry of Commerce, in collaboration with relevant departments, has updated and compiled the GUIDE TO WORKING AND LIVING IN CHINA FOR BUSINESS EXPATRIATES (2025 EDITION).

The guide is structured into four sections: Important Information, Daily Life Services, Stay and Residence Services, and Work-Related Services. It provides practical information on matters such as accommodation registration, mobile SIM cards, bank accounts, residence permits, work permits, social insurance, activation of mobile payment services, transportation, and individual income tax. The 2025 edition also includes new content on RMB cash payments, visa-free transit stays for foreign travelers making international transfers in China, and applications for Mainland Travel Permits for Hong Kong and Macao residents (for non-Chinese nationals). The guide is provided as a reference for business expatriates living and working in China.
