On 18 February 2025, H.E. Lu Xu, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Malawi, presented the Letter of Credence to President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera.

Ambassador Lu Xu conveyed to President Chakwera the cordial greetings and best wishes of President Xi Jinping. “Under the guidance of the strategic road-map drawn up by the leaders of the two countries, China-Malawi relations have developed healthily and rapidly, with fruitful achievements in various fields, winning the true hearts of our two peoples”, she said. Mme. Lu Xu stressed that China is willing to work with Malawi to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, jointly enhance the bilateral relationship for the benefits of the two peoples, and support each other on the international stage.

President Chakwera warmly welcomed Mme. Lu Xu,and asked her to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. He spoke highly of the valuable support that China rendered to the development of Malawi, and reiterated Malawi’s adherence to the one-China principle. Malawi is ready to work with China to continuously expand practical cooperation for further enhancement of the bilateral relations, the President announced.  

Mme. Lu Xu presented the copy of the Letter of Credence to Honourable Nancy Tembo, Minister of Foreign Affairs earlier the same day. 

She arrived in Malawi on 10 February, 2025.
