On 24th June, the handover ceremony of emergency food aid from China to Malawi was held at the National Grain Reserve in Kanengo, Lilongwe. Ambassador Lu Xu and Mr. Moses Chimphepo, Commissioner for Malawi Disaster Management Affairs, signed the handover certificates on behalf of the two governments respectively.

Lu Xu said the emergency food aid is a showcase of China’s sincere and firm support to Malawi. Mr. Moses Chimphepo expressed his gratitude to China, and said that the food aid will help 36,600 households, i.e. 164,700 people in Malawi suffered from food shortage.

Lu Xu was interviewed by the mainstream media after the handover ceremony.
