On February 28 and March 1, Ambassador Lu Xu attended Spring Festival galas organized by Chinese community in Malawi. High-ranking officials from Malawi goverment including Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Chief Secretary of OPC, Hon. Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Minister of Homeland Security, Hon. Minister of Health, Hon. Minister of Energy and Mining, were in attendance.

Ambassador Lu extended New Year greetings to all participants and commended the Chinese community for their longstanding contributions in promoting China-Malawi friendship and deepening pragmatics cooperation. 

In his remarks, Honourable George Tapatula Chaponda, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, spoke highly of the China-Malawi relationship and China’s contributions to Malawi’s economic and social development, expressing his willingness to work with China to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
