On July 30, the opening ceremony of the “China-Malawi Friendship Corner” was co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy and the Lilongwe City Council. H.E. Ambassador Lu Xu, Hon. Ben Malunga Phiri, M.P., Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and councillors of the city council attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Lu said that the “China-Malawi Friendship Corner” is a concrete demonstration of the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges and a key measure to foster closer ties between the two peoples. She emphasized that the corner will serve as a window through which Malawian friends can see and understand China, so as to inject more impetus into the deepening of China-Malawi friendship.

Hon. Ben Malunga Phiri conveyed sincere gratitude for China’s donation of supplies and the establishment of the “China-Malawi Friendship Corner” which is another vivid example of the sound bilateral relations between the two countries. He stated that the Malawian side looks forward to deepening cultural ties, enhancing practical collaboration, and elevating the China-Malawi friendship to new heights.
